Date Night – Part 2: LeRoy’s, Wings, and a $40 Gift Card Win
🍽️ Date Night – Part 2: LeRoy’s, Wings, and a $40 Gift Card Win
Some date nights are fancy.
Some are extravagant.
And some — like this one — are powered entirely by the beautiful, glorious magic of gift certificates.
After wandering around Horrocks and getting absolutely destroyed by their snack aisles (that place should be classified as a financial trap), Kellie and I took the second leg of our date night adventure over to LeRoy’s Classic Bar & Grill here in Lansing.
And let me tell you… LeRoy’s is one of those places where the food is honest, the booths are deep, the bar is glowing, and the regulars already know what you’re going to order before you even sit down.
Best part?
We had $40 in gift certificates burning a hole in my pocket.
Perfect timing.
Perfect vibe.
Perfect excuse for Date Night: Part 2.

🔥 The Feast: Wings, Fish & Chips, and Fiery Feta
Kellie went straight for the fish and chips — golden, crispy, and piled into a basket big enough to qualify as a small mountain. The kind of fish that hits the fryer and immediately confesses all its sins.
I ordered the wings, because nothing says “romance” like spicy chicken you can’t eat quietly.
And together, we shared something that deserves its own theme music:
Feisty Feta Dip.
Hot. Creamy. Slightly dangerous.
Delivered with soft pita triangles that disappear way too fast.
It was one of those comfort-food spreads that makes you lean back, sigh, and go,
“Yeah… this was the right choice.”

💳 The Gift Card Victory Lap
When the check came, I pulled out our two $20 LeRoy’s gift certificates like I was slapping down winning poker cards in a Western.
BAM. BAM.
Paid.
Covered.
Handled.
The bill didn’t even scream.
It barely whispered.
This is why I love gift card date nights — not because of the free food, but because of the way it lets you enjoy yourself without the mental math. No guilt. No “should we skip drinks?” No unnecessary stress.
Just a cozy booth, good food, and someone you love sitting across from you.

🏠 The Vibe Inside LeRoy’s
If you’ve never been:
Warm lighting that makes everyone look good
Wall-to-wall bar classics
A shiny wood counter that could survive a tornado
Low chatter, clinking glasses, and quiet TVs playing sports
Regulars who greet each other by name
A soundtrack of laughter and plates clacking
It’s the kind of place where you instantly relax.
Where nothing feels rushed.
Where the food tastes like the people cooking it actually care.

💡 Why Date Night Part 2 Mattered
It wasn’t expensive.
It wasn’t elaborate.
It wasn’t something we circled on the calendar for a month.
It was simply two people taking time — which is harder than it sounds these days.
Between work, schedules, stress, and the noise of daily life, sitting across from Kellie with baskets of hot food and cold drinks felt like pressing pause on everything else.
Gift cards didn’t just pay for dinner.
They paid for the space to reconnect.
And honestly?
That’s priceless.

Thanks for following along with Date Night: Part 2.
Stay tuned — Date Night Part 3 might involve coffee, dessert, or a cameo from our editorial-cartoon Russian Blue cat.
Who knows? That cat is everywhere lately. 😄
