Welcome to Day 1 of our 16-day journey to craft the ultimate listening experience. We're doing something bold: letting the audience decide the track order for our upcoming blues album, "Dust & Devil Wind – Ghost Blues for the AI Age." Each day, we'll release two versions of a track — labeled SIDE A and SIDE B — and your likes will determine which one becomes the final version and its placement in the album sequence.

This isn’t just a gimmick. It’s an experiment in collaborative creation, a nod to both old-school vinyl A/B testing and new-school engagement metrics. It’s also a chance for our community to help shape the vibe, pace, and emotion of this AI-human hybrid blues record.

Day 1 Track: "Dust & Devil Wind"

This first track, "Dust & Devil Wind," introduces the ghostly presence of our Delta persona, The Delta Phantom. With his spectral slide guitar and mythic storytelling tone, he lays down a mood soaked in pre-war sorrow, Highway 61 legends, and late-night crossroads folklore. But which version best captures that ghost-blues spirit?

SIDE A — The Lament

SIDE A opens with an eerie open-G slide, instantly pulling you into a haunted landscape. The wind FX are subtle but effective, and the felt piano gradually enters like a shadow stepping into view. By the time the cymbals crash in the final crescendo, you’ve taken a journey from stillness to storm, pain to release. It's raw, exposed, and intensely human.

SIDE B — The Storm

SIDE B takes the opposite approach: the tension is first. The wind comes in loud, almost cinematic. The toms and tremolo electric guitar give it a heavy, swirling motion, leading up to a slide climax that feels more like release than mourning. It’s darker, moodier, more dramatic.

How the A/B Test Works

  • Each day, one track drops in two forms: SIDE A and SIDE B.
  • Listen to both versions and LIKE the one that hits harder.
  • The version with the most likes at the end of the 16-day run will be the final version placed on the album in that track slot.
  • This blog and our social media platforms will track the journey daily.

Why Crowdsource an Album Tracklist?

Because blues is the people’s music. It was born on porches, in juke joints, and along backroads. It’s always been a call-and-response between artist and audience. With AI and digital creation tools now part of our workflow, we wanted to keep the soul alive by putting the power back in your hands.

By using modern tools like YouTube likes and Shorts, we can democratize track selection without compromising the emotional core of the music. Every vote is a voice in the room. And we’re listening.

The Tech & Tools Powering the Project

We're using the following to create, test, and share these tracks:

  • Suno 4.5 – for generating initial song structure with detailed style prompts
  • CapCut – for editing Shorts and adding SRT captions
  • NotebookLM + ChatGPT – for scriptwriting, blog production, and commentary
  • YouTube & Spotify – for the official releases and engagement tracking

We’re also showcasing gear used in the production process. These are affiliate links that help support the project:

What Happens Tomorrow?

We’ll unveil Track 2 — again with two competing versions. Some will be slide-heavy, others more rhythm-driven. Some may lean jazzy, others swampy. Each test is a new sonic decision point. You vote. The tracklist forms in real time.

Follow the journey daily on:

Make Your Voice Heard

Head over to both tracks now, give them a spin, and vote with your like. This is your chance to shape how the story unfolds. Music isn’t just created—it’s curated, day by day, by ears like yours.
