A Huntington Afternoon Recap

–A Huntington Afternoon Recap

After a full day of biking, planning, and scenic stops around Huntington, Indiana, we decided to unwind and soak in the small-town character that makes this place such a gem.

Our first stop? The Blue Collar Bar, a true hometown watering hole. Kellie went all in with a signature Skittles shot—sweet, bold, and oddly refreshing—while I opted for The Blue, a house favorite with just enough kick to take the edge off the trail dust. We had the pleasure of meeting the bar’s owner, who has been holding down this local landmark for over 25 years. You don’t just sip drinks here—you get a taste of community.

Hungry from the ride, we aimed for Nick’s Kitchen and Brick House Grill, only to discover both shut their doors at 3PM on Thursdays. Note to fellow explorers: plan your meals early if you're chasing Huntington favorites!

Thankfully, Brockhaus Bar & Grill came through like a champ. Kellie ordered a classic burger and fries—those fries were no joke, crisped to perfection and served hot. I went for the wings with a generous side of blue cheese, a salty-savory combo that hit the spot. We’ll be back.

From there, it was a quick run to Kroger to grab supplies for our weekend cookout sessions. On deck: a hearty Dutch oven chili and a no-fuss, flavor-packed breakfast casserole—perfect for the campfire and content calendar.

We scooped up firewood about a mile from camp (pro tip: buy local and dry), then finally settled in for the night. Music playing. Drinks poured. Our kind of recharge.

Stay tuned for the chili blog and trail food vlog this weekend. Until then—cheers from the campfire!
